Who We Are

Natalie McCarthy

Shortly after qualifying in 2007 I relocated to Scotland from the Netherlands.

Since then I have gained experience working in Curative Education and Camphill Residential settings with a wide age-range of clients within a Social Medical Care model.

I have also gained 7 years’ experience in a NHS Trauma Service providing assessment and therapeutic work for under 18’s. This work included parent and sibling support, liaising with the Professional network, offering
consultation to professionals and training. Within this role I facilitated parent and child groups and provided ongoing supervision to MSc Art therapy students training at Queen Margaret University.

I have worked as a Private Practitioner since 2016 initially focusing on providing Parental Support alongside their child’s Psychotherapy. Currently I have broadened my practice to include individual and group Art therapy and providing Clinical Art therapy supervision.

In my practice I strive to offer a safe and held space in which an individual or group is able to
communicate their personal narrative either non-verbally and / or verbally. My therapeutic approach is Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Holistic, working solely at the client’s pace.
